The customer wanted to improve the cooling efficiency of various processes at the feed plant to meet growing and expanding production needs. Finess supplied a cooling system to the site, in which a single unit provides efficient cooling for the different stages of the production process.
The new system generates cooling energy for process air cooling and a closed extruder cooling circuit.
The new process air handling equipment and ducting solutions enable cool, highly consistent production conditions even during the hottest summer days.
In extruder cooling, the old cooling solution was replaced with a new solution based on a closed cooling circuit, which significantly reduced the production facility’s water consumption. The old equipment was retained as a backup system alongside the new one.
Most of the cooling system’s equipment, piping, and air ducts were installed on the upper floors of the production facility. All main equipment was lifted and hoisted into place by air using a crane. The lifting and hoisting operations required a precise plan to ensure they could be carried out safely and, in a manner, conducive to the installation schedule.
Finess’s scope of delivery included process design of the equipment in close collaboration with the customer. Additionally, the delivery included equipment sizing, positioning, installation of fluid piping and air ducts, as well as commissioning and operator training for the plant’s operating staff.
The cooling system equipment was connected directly to the customer’s own process automation system. This allows the customer to adjust and control the cooling system’s operation from the same platform as other process-related functions at the facility.
